  1. Physical Examination 
  2. ‚Ä¢ In addition to a careful pelvic exam, a general physical examination should pay particular attention to the 
  3.   lymph nodes above the collarbone, the axillae and the groin.
  4. ‚Ä¢ An abdominal examination may find an enlarged liver, a mass or masses or excessive fluid (ascites).

  6. Blood and Other Tests 
  7. ‚Ä¢ Serum beta human chorionic gonadotropin (√üHCG) is elevated in choriocarcinoma . 
  8. ‚Ä¢ Serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is elevated in endodermal sinus tumors.
  9. ‚Ä¢ Serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is elevated in dysgerminoma.
  10. ‚Ä¢ One or more of the tumor markers‚Äî serum √üHCG, AFP and LDH‚Äîmay be elevated in mixed germ cell
  11.   tumors.

  18. ‚Ä¢ The definitive diagnosis is made on histologic evaluation of the removed ovary.
